Blue Zones Project® encourages changes in communities that make healthy choices easier and more accessible. When an entire community participates—from its worksites and schools to its restaurants and grocery stores—the small changes contribute to huge benefits for all: lowered healthcare costs, improved productivity, and ultimately, a higher quality of life.
Blue Zones Project and partners are proud to have surpassed goals for transformative change and well-being improvement across Monterey County. The local Project operated in the community from 2018 – 2025, with Blue Zones Community certification achieved across the entire Project area. It is the first county in the state of California to achieve Blue Zones certification.
